SKY NZ selects Pro-Bel for new multichannel playout facility
New Zealand’s SKY Network has selected Pro-Bel to provide key automation, media management and control components for the upgrade of its broadcast center in Auckland. The broadcaster, whose content is distributed by satellite across New Zealand, is significantly expanding its facilities and upgrading its broadcast infrastructure to access the full benefits of file-based playout.
SKY has ordered a 48-channel Pro-Bel Morpheus automation and playout system, as well as Morpheus Control and Monitoring, which will be used initially for soft panel router control.
The Morpheus automation system will control Grass Valley K2 servers and Miranda Presmaster switching and branding products. The K2 servers are interfaced to IBM Tivoli asset management that is used for the content archive. SKY uses Pilat Media IBMS for traffic and scheduling tasks.
