Snell Switches KEYC-TV
CBS affiliate KEYC-TV has tapped Snell & Wilcox for its Kahuna SD/HD production switcher.
The station in Mankato, Minn. will use the Kahuna for SD-based local news, sports and entertainment productions. As it moves towards a digital workflow, KEYC can switch to the systems multiplatform SD/HD mode and eventually upgrade via software when it is ready to broadcast in all HD. In multiformat SD/HD mode, Kahuna users can mix existing SD camera feeds, graphics, handheld shots and archive footage directly into an HD production without having to purchase upgrades or HD upconversion gear, according to Snell & Wilcox.
Systems integrator Heartland Video installed the Kahuna and served as a consultant throughout the station's digital transition.
