Former White House press secretary and founding host of “FOX News Sunday” Tony Snow died July 12 at the age of 53 after battling colon cancer.
Snow, who served as the chief spokesman for President George W. Bush for 17 months, is survived by his wife Jill and three children.
Snow’s career spanned a broad range of journalistic endeavors, including print and broadcast editorialist, commentator and talk radio host. He has been praised for the way in which he treated reporters in the White House press corps.
In a statement from the president released July 13, Bush praised Snow as “a very smart and capable man … He loved to laugh, he loved his country and he loved his family,” he said.
Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) President Barbara Cochran issued a statement mourning the loss of Snow in which she said he “was admired for his openness and candor at the podium in the White House briefing room.”
