Sonic introduces Dolby Digital AC-3 encoder for MIPS processors

published Sonic Solutions’ Sonic Dolby Digital AC-3 encoder for MIPS Technologies' new consumer audio platform is a software component designed specifically for microprocessors based on the industry-standard MIPS32 architecture.
The software encoder converts raw PCM streams to an AC-3 elementary stream. Stereo, mono, and dual-mono outputs are supported with bit rates from 64kb/s to 448kb/s. The encoder, targeted to work with consumer devices, has a small memory footprint and requires low processing resources.
