Sony has formed a strategic alliance with Front Porch Digital, a provider of digital archive management and transcoding systems. The project will be managed by Sony Professional Services, a division of Sony Europe.
The two companies offer combined systems featuring Front Porch Digital DIVArchive (Distributed Intelligent Versatile Archive) software and the Sony SAIT PetaSite tape storage systems.
Rino Petricola, senior vice president of Front Porch Digital International, said the partnership would help expand the companies' global-shared reference sites. Joint Sony and Front Porch customers include ITN in the London; NOB and Ciris in the Netherlands; Orbit in Bahrain, RTL2 in Germany, and RTL TVi in Belgium.
