Sony kicks off national HD promotion from California Speedway
The latest large-scale effort in raising public desire for HDTV occurred Sunday at the California Speedway in Fontana, CA, with the Sony HD 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series 500-mile Labor Day weekend event.
Televised nationally by NBC, the race gave Sony an opportunity to highlight HDTV at the track with its sponsorship of Ryan Newman’s No. 12 car, an HD-equipped pit crew. To enhance his pit crew’s performance, four large inflatable domes were pre-race HD presentation.
Additionally, Sony Electronics kicked off an HD national advertising campaign with the race and began its role as the Official Electronics Partner of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
