Sony NAB Sneak Peak
(February 4, 2004) Tokyo, Japan--Sony has revealed some of the new products it plans to introduce at NAB2004. Here's a sneak peak:
--A multipurpose HD POV camera, called the HDC-X300. Costing $15,000, it weighs 2.6 pounds, with three 1/2-inch, 1.5-megapixel power HAD CCDs. The camera does 1080 lines at 59.94i, 50i, 24p, 25p, and 30p and still-picture mode. The camera measures 9.5 x 9.5 x 16 cm.
--An HD triax converter.
--Enhancements to the HDCAM and HD SR.
--Enhancements to HD switcher line, including the MMS-2000 series multi-format switcher, which includes a 1ME/8-input, 1.5ME/8-input, and 1.5ME/16-input in SD or multi-format HD. The SD units are field upgradeable to HD multi-format [720p, 1080i, 1080i/24p].
--Enhancements to XPRI, including advanced realtime HD color correction, and the ability for 4 XPRI NLEs to be networked with a SAN system.
--The introduction of a portable A/V line production switcher with 6 inputs. The switcher weighs 12 pounds and uses a large LCD screen for source and program monitoring.
