Image Film in Barcelona, Spain, has upgraded its color grading suite with a da Vinci 2K Plus to be used for film processing, commercial color grading and other post-production projects.
The company selected the da Vinci 2K Plus system to provide clients with advanced color and image enhancement technologies, and to be able to manage any HD or 2K project.
The resolution-independent image gallery function of the da Vinci 2K Plus allows for quick comparison and correction of select frames in real time, which makes subsequent corrections easier and improves overall workflow efficiency in the facility.
The majority of projects at Image Film requires use of the SD PAL 4:2:2 format, a common standard in the advertising world. Requests for HD have grown, however, and prior to Image Film's purchase of the da Vinci 2K Plus, color correcting masters and HD material was a challenge for the company's eight colorists. Now, the 2K Plus enables transfers between SD and HD material in one step, greatly improving facility productivity and speed.
