Steelers upgrade Heinz Field end zone video board
The Pittsburgh Steelers is expanding use of digital displays for fans on its home turf. The team is upgrading the LED video board in the main end zone scoreboard at Heinz Field.
Daktronics will replace the existing screen with its 4.4 trillion-color HD-X LED display, which will measure 27ft by 96ft. The new technology will nearly quadruple the resolution of the existing display.
The $2.4 million upgrade will incorporate high-density, full-color resolution, wide viewing angles and resolution enhancement with sub-pixel control. As with all Daktronics LED video displays, the Steelers’ new big screen will have the capability to show a single, widescreen image, and can also be split into multiple windows to show relevant game information such as lineups, game statistics and out-of-town scores. The active area of the new display will exceed 2600sq ft.
