Sweden, Spain Set Timetables for All-Digital Terrestrial TV
Spain's government aims to switch entirely to digital TV broadcasting in 2010, according to the Financial Times in an article by Leslie Crawford . This would make it one of the first countries in Europe to shut down analog TV broadcasting. See the article for more on Spain's plan for the digital switch.
Swedish news site The Local reported that Sweden has set an even more aggressive time table, adopting a nationwide timetable that completes the transition from analog to digital TV by Jan. 31, 2008. See Dates finalised for transfer to digital TV for the dates analog TV will be shut off in different cities. The shutdown is scheduled to start in Gotland, Sweden in September this year. Stockholm is scheduled to shut down analog broadcasting on March 12, 2007.
