Tandberg Announces MPEG-4 and WM9 Support
Tandberg Television plans to display a number of new video compression products at NAB2004, including devices that use the company's intelligent compression engine (ICE) as well as MPEG-4 and Windows Media 9. The Tandberg EN5930 encoder will feature an ICE card that MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264/AVC) compression; the card can also go into the company's EN5710 MPEG-2 encoder to upgrade the current product line.
For Windows Media 9 compression, Tandberg has developed the EN5920 encoder and the company also promises a WM9 upgraded for its existing products. In addition to these standard-definition products, Tandberg will show a high-definition version of ICE that allows MPEG-2 HD encoders to support advanced coding techniques. The company also has two new receivers, one for standard definition and one for HD.
