Tandberg Intros HD Video Conference Systems
Tandberg is ramping up both group and personal HD videoconference systems that include encryption and dual-stream support for displaying both participants and presentations simultaneously.
The Tandberg series for groups includes a Centric 1700 MXP that operates as a visual control center and can switch between PC content and HD video calls, and a 720p camera with 7x zoom lens (and 70 degrees field-of-view to accommodate large groups).
The more personal Edge series is a bookshelf-like system that includes a codec, mic, and Tandberg PrecisionHD designed to convert a typical workspace with a flatscreen into an "interactive situation room." Edge models include the 95 MXP, 85 MXP and 75 MXP.
The firm said that customers who had acquired other HD-ready Tandberg systems over the past two years can switch to HD with a relatively simple camera and software upgrade.
