Technicolor Taps Sony Projection System for Digital Cinema

published Technicolor-- part of the Services division of Thomson, SA--is including the Sony SXRD 4K digital projection system in its digital cinema beta test in early 2006. The Sony DCI-compliant digital cinema projection system delivers a 4096 x 2160 pixel resolution to produce four times the pixel count of current high-def TVs. Starting in January, Sony will produce approximately 100 SXRD projectors per month, according to the company. The projectors began shipping in October.
