Telco TV subscription revenue to reach $19 billion in 2011, says In-Stat

Telco TV availability continues to grow to new countries as higher bandwidth networks are built to deliver video, according to market researcher In-Stat.

In many European countries, consumers can even choose among four or five broadband providers offering telco TV service, said In-Stat. This expansion of availability is driving subscriber growth.

In North America, the largest telcos — Verizon and AT&T — are aggressively rolling out telco TV services and driving subscriber growth, said In-Stat analyst Michelle Abraham.

A recent In-Stat report, “Worldwide Telco TV Services,” reveals:

  • Worldwide telco TV subscribers will grow to 54 million in 2011.
  • Due to subscriber growth, telco TV subscription revenue will reach $19 billion in 2011.
  • Enabling subscribers to watch TV programs on their TV when they want is more important today than enabling them to watch TV on multiple devices.
