Telecast Supplies Fiber Interface for JVC ProHD Camcorder
Telecast Fiber Systems has collaborated with JVC Professional Product Co. to qualify a fiber interface with the GY-HD250U camcorder, part of the JVC ProHD line.
Introduced at NAB2006, the GY-HD250 features 720/60p capture and recording for on-the-shoulder electronic newsgathering or, with the KA-HD250 adapter, use as a studio camera. The GY-HD250 also offers real 24p and 30p acquisition for digital cinematography.
Telecast's CopperHead camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver fits on the back of the GY-HD250 and transmits HD/SDI video to its base station, as well as video, audio, intercom, and camera-control data in both directions, via a single fiber cable. The system also transmits genlock, time code, and tally to the GY-HD250 for live capability. All of these signals are carried over distances that can exceed three miles.
"With its high quality and very appealing price point, JVC's GY-HD250 promises to carve out a new niche within the HD market, and the plug-and-play fiber interface we provide adds to users' ability to do so much more for so much less," said Richard Cerny, president of Telecast Fiber Systems.
