Telecinco commits to Sony for file-based workflow
Spanish TV channel Telecinco has signed a deal to purchase a comprehensive digital solution from Sony, which will give the broadcaster an integrated production environment and an advanced workflow for faster and more efficient production of its news broadcasts.
The channel also has signed an agreement to purchase a wide range of XDCAM equipment that will replace the current Betacam SP format for all production areas. In the news area, XDCAM will be fully integrated into the SONAPS solution. The contract comprises more than 150 PDW-1500 deck units, PDW-U1 drives and PDW-530 camcorders, which will be installed in the coming year.
The SONAPS project will provide Telecinco with a comprehensive turnkey solution for news and general production and includes a centralized content management system. The project also includes a replacement of the newsroom computer system with the AP's ENPS. The whole system also will be integrated with the existing Aquarius digital storage system, the Polymedia multiplatform distribution system, and the Vizrt graphics applications software. The project also covers an ambitious training program and a three-year service contract.
