Telex debuts Digital Matrix Intercom

Telex/RTS has introduced the RTS Cronus Digital Matrix Intercom system. The 32-port system —contained in a single 2 RU component—is based upon a new DSP architecture with frequency shaping and vox. Its standard configuration offers the ability to link up to four units into a single 128-port matrix, over distances of hundreds of yards.

The RTS Cronus Digital Matrix Intercom includes a proprietary active feedback elimination circuit to allow high-volume operation in confined spaces without feedback.

RTS' Seamless Sizing feature allows two, three or four matrices to be combined by the addition of coaxial cable. As a result, all panels and all operators see the new larger universe of panels. Although the matrix appears to be one system, control remains autonomous and independent at each matrix.

Cronus is fully compatible with all existing RTS matrix products, including all keypanels, telephone interfaces, level panels, Telex Intelligent Trunking, GPI and system adapters for ADAM, ADAM-CS and Zeus.

The Cronus system also has the ability to link, via an interface card, to existing ADAM matrices, allowing Cronus to function as a satellite matrix to any existing ADAM from a 128-port single frame to a frame of more than 800 ports. This combined system appears as a single large matrix, without the need for trunking.

Cronus will be available initially with analog inputs and outputs. Other interfaces including AES digital audio, VOIP and digital via coax will follow later this year.
