Thales Provides DVB-H for Paris Motor Show
At the Paris Motor Show, electronics manufacturer Thales provided French broadcaster TF1 with its DVB-H standard so that broadcasts of LCI and TF1 TV programs could be viewed on mobile devices.
Introduced at IBC in Amsterdam, the DVB-H head-end system allows video to be broadcast to PDAs and cell phones. All video content will be broadcast in MPEG-4.
The system encapsulates encoded content and transmits for reception on mobile devices.
Thales--based in Neuilly-sur-Seine Cedex France--now offers DVB-H compliant DTV head-ends. Users can perform low bit-rate encoding, encapsulate data content streams, multiplex low- and high-resolution video, modulate the signal and transmit it to the mobile receivers on several types of frequency bands.
