The Cable Show: Verizon Taps ON Networks for FiOS HD VOD

Verizon and ON Networks said this week that Verizon’s FiOS TV (fiber optics) subs now have access to original HD programming content from ON that can be viewed for free at any time on the FiOS video-on-demand service. Both firms made the announcement this week (May 18-20) in New Orleans at The Cable Show.

As the potential market for HD services of all kinds is expected to exceed $2 billion in the next few years, according to some analysts, and consumer demand for HD programming growing, ON and Verizon will begin by offering about 10,000 titles each month—roughly the same as Verizon’s cable competition—including what Verizon said will be more than 1,000 HD VOD titles each month by the end of 2008.

ON is based in Austin, Texas.
