Cox Communications selects MediaHawk 4000
Cox Communications has chosen Concurrent's MediaHawk 4000 for launch of on-demand service in the cable operator's Tulsa, OK, and Baton Rouge, LA, divisions. The system will give subscribers access to thousands of hours of on-demand movies and other content.

COMSTAR-DIRECT, Inuk tap TANDBERG Television for IPTV
COMSTAR-DIRECT, Russia's largest broadband service provider, has selected TANDBERG Television encoding and monitoring solutions for a major network expansion.

Located in Moscow, COMSTAR-DIRECT provides broadband services to more than 360,000 Russians and has more than 83,000 broadband Internet and IPTV customers. It is implementing an extensive multimedia project to provide a multi-channel and on-demand TV offering.

Separately, Inuk Networks in London has selected TANDBERG Television's MPEG-4 AVC encoders and professional receivers for its Freewire TV service. Freewire TV currently offers free-to-air digital television channels to university students who are able to access the high-speed JANET broadband network. Inuk will launch Freewire TV as a residential service later this year.

G&L relies on ATG Broadcast Osprey
Cologne, Germany-based streaming service provider G&L (Geissendoerfer & Leschinsky) ordered 20 ATG Broadcast Osprey 230 video capture cards and 14 Osprey Simulstream multistreaming cards.

The Osprey 230 is a half-slot, low-profile PCI bus card for capturing full-motion video from a standard composite analog source. Osprey SimulStream video capture cards allow simultaneous multiple streams to be created at different bit rate speeds from a single source.

ON Telecoms launches IPTV services in Greece with Verimatrix protection
ON Telecoms has selected Verimatrix to secure the first IPTV service in Greece. Verimatrix's solution lets ON Telecoms deliver Catch-up TV, nPVR, VoD and other On Demand services using the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to provide digital video content security throughout its digital video network.

Ixia reaches product milestone
IP performance test systems provider Ixia announced last week that it has shipped its IPTV test system for assessing the performance of IP video and triple play networks and infrastructure to more than 150 customers worldwide.
