TANDBERG Television announces pair of South Korean IPTV wins
TANDBERG Television announced two IPTV deals Dec. 5 with different South Korean service providers under which it will supply each with a variety of head-end equipment.
The company will provide South Korean telecom provider KT with its EN8090 HD MPEG-4 AVC and EN8030 SD MPEG-4 AVC encoders as part of a head-end expansion project. Separately, SK Broadband in South Korea has agreed to acquire TANDBERG Television EN8030 MPEG-4 AVC SD encoders, EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoders, iPlex for IP multiplexing and RX1290 SD/HD integrated receiver decoders for a new IPTV service due in 2009.
Earlier this year, South Korea made regulatory changes allowing IPTV providers to offer linear broadcast channels.

Hancock Telecom relies on OFS AllWave FLEX ZWP fiber
Hancock Telecom, an incumbent telephone company in Indiana, will use OFS AllWave FLEX ZWP fiber in all of its cable and connectivity products going forward, OFS said last month.

Hancock Telecom began its deployment of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) in 2002 and now offers triple-play services to numerous subscribers, including voice, data and IPTV. Hancock uses AllWave FLEX ZWP fiber to connect businesses and residences in the City of Greenfield, IN, and surrounding areas.

Philadelphia softball team cashes in with RevenueStream
Philadelphia Force, one of the six women’s softball teams that make up National ProFastpitch (NPF), is using StreamGuys’ new RevenueStream subscription platform to stream live and on-demand video of its games.
The RevenueStream platform generates a new revenue source for the team, which plans to expand the service for the 2009 season. During the 2008 season, subscribers accessed live Philadelphia Force games and select exhibition and international games from the team’s Web site.

Pace delivers +Le Cube HD PVR to Canal+ Group
Pace, an independent developer of digital TV technologies, has delivered +Le Cube, a satellite/IP hybrid set-top box using an Ethernet port for VOD services, to French pay TV provider CANAL+ Group.
The +Le Cube HD PVR for CANAL+ Group has a 320GB internal hard disk drive providing the ability to record up to 100 hours of HD programming.

TV-Desi launches new South Asian IPTV network
