Netstream selects Entone for Swiss IPTV deployments
Dübendorf, Switzerland-based Internet service provider (ISP) Netstream has selected Entone’s Hydra HD IPTV video gateway and Amulet HD IPTV receiver for its high-definition HD IPTV service deployments in Switzerland.
Entone’s Hydra HD and Amulet HD enable HD IPTV and broadband video services using MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264) compression technologies.

Viginta to deploy Widevine content protection suite
Lithuanian multichannel television, telephone and Internet service provider (ISP) Viginta has selected Widevine Technologies’ Cypher to secure content delivered over DTT, hybrid QAM (cable) and IPTV deployments.
This marks one of the first times a downloadable conditional access and DRM has been implemented in a one-way DTT network.

Triveni Digital CTO to join IPTV quality assurance panel at IBC2008
Triveni Digital CTO Richard Chernock will participate in an IEEE BTS tutorial session on IPTV quality assurance on Sept. 11 at the IBC2008 in Amsterdam.

Greek telecom selects SeaChange subsidiary for on-demand TV service
On Demand Group (ODG), a subsidiary of SeaChange International, will provide an outsourced video-on-demand solution to the Hellenic Telecommunication Organisation (OTE), the company said last week.
OTE, Greece’s largest telco with 5 million fixed lines and more than 700,000 broadband customers, has plans to extend its service offering and roll out IPTV services to its customer base.

CCTV.com to use On2 encoding for Beijing Olympics Web coverage
China Central Television's CCTV.com will use the On2 Flix engine to encode and publish new media video coverage of the Beijing Olympics, the company said last week.
CCTV.com, the official Internet and mobile phone broadcaster of the 2008 games, will deliver an exclusive video on-demand service using On2 VP6-based Adobe Flash video across its network of more than 1000 servers.
