Analysts say the deal may be good for Disney stockholders, who could realize as much as a 30 percent premium for their stock. If consummated, the deal would bring together the sports operations of Disney-owned ABC and ESPN with Comcast’s professional sports franchises and cable sports channels under one corporate umbrella.

Kroenke Sports Enterprises, the parent company of the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, the NLL's Colorado Mammoth, and the MLS's Colorado Rapids, will launch a regional television network that features sports and entertainment. The as-yet-unnamed network will debut in September and offer service in many of the states in the western Rockies.
