Swedish Telia to offer Athens Games to mobile customers
Swedish mobile operator Telia will offer customers video coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in Athens on their cell phones.
Users of GSM and 3G cell phones will have access to the coverage. Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television owns the rights to the games in Sweden and has been awarded sole rights to offer Olympic coverage on cell phones to Telia.
Twins pull the plug on Victory Sports, turn to FOX Sports Net
The Minnesota Twins has decided to shut down its fledgling Victory Sports cable network and sell broadcast rights for game coverage to FOX Sports Net.
Press reports indicate the agreement with FOX is valued at more than $12 million.

MobiTV, which is currently available exclusively to Sprint PCS Vision customers, will provide video highlights on one channel and audio coverage of every Yankees game on another.
ABC, ESPN enter new 7-year deal with ACC for football coverage
ABC and ESPN this week signed a seven year deal for the broadcast rights to Atlantic Coast Conference football. The new agreement extends the existing pact through 2010. The value of the deal has not been announced.
CSTV, Akamai Technologies to create on-demand streaming platform for college sports
College Sports Television (CSTV), an independent cable network, and Akamai Technologies are creating an on-demand streaming platform for the online delivery of college sports content
Akamai will serve as the content and streaming distribution provider for CollegeSports.com and its network of 150 official athletic sites for colleges, conferences and athletic associations. Akamai will provide complete content delivery of CollegeSports.com’s interactive multimedia, including streaming audio of college games, press conferences, game highlights, College Sports TV analysis and coaches’ shows, as well as streamed on-demand College Sports TV programming.
