ESPN to cover seven sports in HD
High-definition channels ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD will produce seven sports in live HD. This includes all of its NASCAR races, NBA telecasts, MLS telecasts, MLB telecasts, college football telecasts, National Hot Rod Association races and "NFL Monday Night Football" telecasts in the 720p HD format. In total, ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD will deliver more than 7000 hours in HD this year.
Since the launch of ESPN HD in March 2003, many sports have received partial-season or event-based HD coverage because of limited remote telecast facilities, the network said. More HD production trucks are now on the road and able to handle the more than 700 telecasts appearing this year on ESPN's two HD channels.
More than 150 of the 400 total college basketball telecasts on ESPN and ESPN2 will also be produced in HD this year.
