The Weather Channel Shows Clears Skies with Canon HD Lenses
By TVTechnology
published The Weather Channel (TWC) has purchased seven new Canon HDTV lenses to use in its three studios.
The new Canon lens--paired with Ikegami HDTV cameras--use Canon's 16:9/4:3 Crossover Technology, and is more portable, replacing its HJ16x8B lense.
Mike Smereski, chief engineer of channel that broadcasts live for 21 hours per day said that with the addition of the lenses, the channel has future-proofed itself.
"In the near term, these lenses produce higher resolution down-converted SD pictures," Smereski said, adding that when the channel makes the transition to HD, TWC will be ready to go.
