Thomson Grass Valley Ignites MediaFUSE for multiplatform production
At NAB Show 2008 Thomson Grass Valley demonstrated its Ignite integrated production system, which enables stations to automate their operations and allow a single person to run an entire newscast. In connection with this demonstration the company showed its new MediaFUSE content repurposing and multidistribution system, which brings a number of efficiencies and a fast return on investment to multiplatform content creation and distribution.
MediaFUSE offers more than just operational efficiencies, it’s designed to be a revenue generator and a way to leverage the Ignite system to support multiple platforms. It not only helps manage content throughout the production chain, it also enables stations to add more commercial spot avail time to existing content, while allowing them to create more content and cut down on technical errors.
The sophisticated software architecture is an option for the Ignite system and offers a suite of automated tools that allow the simultaneous production of Web, mobile, and IPTV broadcast materials in real time for both “live” and “on-demand” applications. It means traditional television stations can quickly and cost-effectively become webcasters and mobilecasters using a single workflow.
MediaFUSE allows broadcasters and media companies to increase the amount of content available for Internet and mobile distribution by as much as five times that of traditional manual processes. It also can help users turn around segments for time-critical programming such as news within minutes of receiving existing material.
Thomson’s Ignite system has been sold to more than 75 stations thus far.
