Thomson launches TV station kits at IBC
Taking a novel approach to making digital broadcast equipment widely accessible, Thomson announced several new Grass Valley “TV Station in a Kit” systems, with complete production packages.

At IBC the company introduced four packages as part of the Grass Valley TV Station Kit initiative. There’s the Grass Valley Studio Kit – Professional, which includes three Grass Valley LDK 300 12-bit standard-definition cameras, one KayakDD 1 M/E production switcher, one M-Series iVDR with eight hours of storage, one Concerto Series multi-format router (32x32) and a variety of Gecko modular conversion and distribution products.
The Grass Valley Studio Kit – Broadcast features three Grass Valley LDK 300 cameras, one Zodiak 2.5 M/E production switcher, an M-Series iVDR with eight hours of storage, one Concerto 64 Series (64x32) routing switcher and a variety of Gecko modular conversion and distribution products.
The Grass Valley News Production Kit – Starter is designed to help stations upgrade their news production operations to digital with a minimal amount of cost. This kit includes three Grass Valley NewsEdit SC software-based nonlinear editing systems with PCs, a NewsQ Pro automated news playback system, and an M-Series iVDR with eight hours of storage.
The Grass Valley News Production Kit – Shared is a complete shared news production system. Targeted at small- to medium-sized broadcasters, it includes six NewsEdit SC software-based nonlinear editing systems with PCs, one NewsQ Pro automated news playback system, two M-Series iVDRs with eight hours of storage each, and a Network Attached Storage (NAS) system with 730 GB of storage.
All of the new Grass Valley TV Station in a Kit Series solutions feature a high degree of flexibility within the base packages, enabling customers to tailor a package to their specific requirements by selecting from a variety of optional add-on accessories. All kits are available now.
