Thomson“s Technicolor Takes Over NBCU International Distribution
Thomson (NYSE:TMS) Technicolor Services announced a long-term agreement to provide NBC Universal with international broadcast distribution and media management services. Technicolor also acquired NBC Universal“s broadcast distribution center in Denver.
Under deal terms, Technicolor will manage the preparation and international distribution of 31 NBC Universal channels; 19 will be managed from the Denver facility and the rest from existing Technicolor facilities in London, Paris and Singapore. The NBCU slate includes the Hallmark International channels, distributed throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America. Crown Media Holdings owns the domestic Hallmark feeds, which Technicolor will also distribute out of Denver along with Altitude Sports Network, a regional cabler operated by KSE Media Ventures.
The transaction provides Technicolor with its first broadcast facility in the United States. Other facilities not previously mentioned include broadcast operations centers in the Netherlands and Japan.
