Tieline Ties with Audio-IP Group
Tieline Technology has joined the Audio-via-IP Experts Group.
Tieline will advise the group on the interoperability of audio codecs when broadcasting over IP. Group members include Orban/CRL, Mayah Communications and AETA Audio Systems.
"This is a terrific step forward for broadcasters", said Tieline International Marketing Manager Darren Levy. "This move reinforces our belief that codec manufacturers need to collaborate, to make it easier for broadcasters to evolve from existing circuit-switched infrastructure into new audio-over-IP technologies".
Detlef Wiese, founder and CEO of Mayah Communications stated: "It is so good to find more partners supporting the EBU N/ACIP recommendations. Customers now are in a position to select already EBU N/ACIP compliant product out of four manufacturers. We wish more would follow soon, but already with AETA, Orban, Tieline and us, Mayah customers find a broad offer on compatible products".
According to Levy, as broadcasters face the need to migrate to IP networks, they are looking to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and manufacturers to establish a global standard for reliable broadcasting over such networks. "This includes interoperability between brands over these new networks", he said.
"In 2007, the EBU released specifications for IP compatibility and Tieline has complied with these and successfully tested our codecs with a number of European codec manufacturers — including our interoperability over IP using SIP", said PJ Fall, Tieline R&D manager.
