Time Warner Grows HD Channels in North Texas
Cable subs in the nation’s fifth-largest DMA got access to more than a dozen additional HD channels recently when Time Warner Cable grew its HD tier for Dallas-Ft. Worth.
TWC said it also is enhancing its pay-per-view options to include more HD content, which (along with the new channels) is designed to better compete with satellite, which continues to provide far more HD channels (as distinguished from Comcast’s ever-changing VOD “choices”) than most cablers now offer.
In all, TWC added 17 more HD channels to its tier, which brings its total to around 50 channels for both big cities and its adjacent North Texas markets, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The additional channels include:
- ABC Family HD
- BIO HD
- CBS College Sports HD
- Disney Channel HD
- ESPNews HD
- ESPNU HD
- Fox News HD
- FX HD
- Hallmark Movie Channel HD
- Lifetime HD
- Planet Green HD
- PPV HD
- Science Channel HD
- Speed HD
- TLC HD
- Toon Disney HD
- Travel Channel HD
- Weather Channel HD
