In February, the number of plasma display panel (PDP) modules shipped totaled 860,000 units, according to Seoul-based display market research institute Displaybank.
Matsushita Electric Industrial, Samsung SDI and LG Electronics led the growth in units shipped. Together they accounted for 88 percent of all plasma panels shipped, according to the display market researcher. The trend is likely to have continued through March.
The market share of the top three comes at the expense of Pioneer and Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display (FHP), Displaybank reported. There are only five major companies in Korea and Japan building plasma display panels.
