Trembly Receives Top Honor

The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and the American Woman in Radio and Television (AWRT) have awarded Cristy Trembly, studio manager and engineer-in-charge for CBS Television City in Los Angeles, the first ever AWRT/SBE Female Engineer of the Year Award. Trembly will receive the award during the AWRT Annual Leadership Summit and Business Conference, March 11 in Washington, D.C.

Trembly's career in television, which spans 30 years, began in Morgantown, W. Va. at WWVU-TV. She moved to Los Angeles and KMEX-TV in 1979 and eventually to CBS Television City in 1992.

"The AWRT/SBE award recognizes one part of the diverse engineering talent in radio and TV," remarked Chriss Scherer, CPBE CBNT, president of the SBE. "The SBE has recognized its own members through its annual award program for many years, and we welcomed the opportunity to work with the AWRT in creating this recognition."

Both AWRT and SBE partnered on the award project in an effort to bring attention to the contributions that broadcast engineers make to the industry and specifically, that of women.
