Turkish broadcaster goes live with new tapeless news workflow
Coverage of local elections in Istanbul, Turkey, March 29, was the first major event Huzur Radyo TV (FOX TV Turkey), a News Corp. Europe affiliate, produced with a new multimillion euro tapeless news, production and playout system.
The system, integrated by Grass Valley, includes Grass Valley LDK 400 cameras, a Kayak production switcher, K2 media clients and a K2 SAN as well as an Aurora news production system.
The system also includes a Grass Valley Concerto Series router and Maestro master control switcher as well as GeckoFlex modular products, Jupiter control and NetCentral facility monitoring. Huzur Radyo TV’s decision to build out the tapeless news system follows implementation of file-based news systems at other News Corp. stations in Eastern Europe. As part of the project, which entails everything from ingest to playout, Grass Valley also integrated legacy equipment.
According to Necip Kircin, chief technical officer of Huzur Radyo TV, the broadcaster selected Grass Valley for the system integration because of what the company had done for other FOX news channels in Bulgaria, Serbia and Poland.
Other system components include an automation system from Harris and an archive system from Front Porch Digital. SSL audio mixing consoles and editing from Apple and Avid were provided by Huzur Radyo TV for integration.
