Turner Goes to 'Memphis' with Snell
Turner Entertainment has standardized on the Snell & Wilcox Memphis as the mastering encoder for all content played out on its HD networks.
Turner has purchased 22 encoder systems, which are being used in its Atlanta facility to provide MPEG-2 encoding of HD content prior to play-out and archiving. Turner used the system to ingest HD content in a format compatible with its Pinnacle MediaStream servers and online storage infrastructure. Additionally Memphis processes CIE-708 closed captions and carries Dolby-E audio.
The Turner facility in Atlanta supports more than 30 SD and HD network feeds and as new channels are launched, Memphis will enable Turner to expand its programming line while maintain high quality pictures, according to Snell & Wilcox.
