Turner Taps Ikegami Cameras for First HD Truck
Turner Studio's first HDTV truck will be outfitted with Ikegami digital cameras. The mobile production unit will go into the field in 2004 with 14 portable Ikegami HDK-79E cameras equipped with 2/3-inch 2.2 million-pixel 1080i FIT CCD image sensors.
Ikegami HDK-79E works in multi-format HD (1080i, 720p) and SDTV (480i, 480p). Additional versatility in field production comes with the TFC-TFH-790 Fiber/Triax converter system, for maximum transmission distance of 1,550 m, using a triax cable. Nine of the cameras come equipped with the Ikegami SE-79D System Expander, which enables the use of the 7-inch viewfinder and full studio lenses, converting the portable camera into a full-facility studio camera in less than a minute.
