Catalunyan municipal broadcaster Televisió Badalona is using the Dalet News Suite for VectorBox to facilitate production and playout of its daily news programs. The broadcaster went live with the system on 12 October 2007.
Dalet News Suite for VectorBox is a new turn-key product offering from Dalet providing small- to mid-size stations integrated ingest, newsroom computer system, desktop editing and playout management via the Vector3 VectorBox video server.
Preparing programs with a staff of 100 plus, Televisió Badalona selected the Dalet New Suite for VectorBox package based on its price-to-performance value, allowing the team to create more high quality program content without increasing resources.
"The Dalet solution offers a tremendous value proposition for our operation", stated Mr. Jordi Coloma, technical director of Televisió Badalona. "We needed to move from our tape–digital production and playout combination to a file-based workflow that was more efficient".
The Televisió Badalona workflow starts with ingest management via Dalet. The story production and rundown is managed via the Dalet NewsWire component. Journalist have access from their desktops to integrated text and video. They can assemble news stories using Dalet's desktop MediaCutter editing tools.
For the Televisió Badalona installation, Dalet integrated existing Apple Final Cut Pro editing workstations. Stories can be picked up by Apple Final Cut Pro editors for finishing then submitted to the run-down for playout management via the Dalet On Air tool. Seamless integration with VectorBox ensures media is managed through every step of the workflow.
