TV Korea builds new LA facility around Vectorbox Playout products
Vector3, a manufacturer of graphics and playout products, announced that TV Korea has built a new studio in Los Angeles with Vectorbox integrated playout equipment as a centerpiece of the operation.
TV Korea is a fully owned DTV channel of RK Media Group, one of South Korea’s largest broadcasters. The facility is designed to deliver Korean programming around the clock. The lineup includes a combination of popular shows produced in Korea with a variety of live news and other programs produced in the Los Angeles studio.
The tapeless production and playout infrastructure consists of Apple Final Cut Pro workstations for editing, FOR-A and Harris for multiviewing and routing of media standard IT storage, with Vector managing the media ingest, content and graphics playout and automation for both continuity and live broadcasts.
Broadcast system integrator IISN Systems, which specializes in Korean systems integrations, designed and deployed the installation at TV Korea. A sister operation in New York is due to launch later in 2009. The file-based workflow provides a flexible infrastructure for supporting the current 80-plus staff, easily scaling the operation as TV Korea expands its programming options.
In addition to delivering full ingest and playout capabilities, the Vector system allows users to update graphics on the fly. Satellite, RSS data or MXL feeds can be branded — manually or automated — during live playout.
