TV2GO Taps For-A for Trans-Atlantic HD Conversions
Using a For-A FRC-7000 HD frame-rate converter, international satellite transmission and video production company TV2GO Inc. said its is making European HD sporting events available to U.S. distributors.
TV2GO's teleport began offering satellite and fiber connectivity during the summer between North America and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The FRC-7000, first unveiled at NAB2006, uses motion-compensation processing with motion vectors to convert field frequencies, enabling conversions between various HD frame rates such as 1080/59.94i and 50i and between 720/59.94p and 50p. For-A said this week that other formats would be available soon.
FRC-7000's technology uses motion vectors to reduce judder and video resolution deterioration in field frequency conversions. The frame-rate converter detects scene cuts automatically without generating a motion-compensation image from unrelated cuts, in frames before and after the edit.
