TVB Tech Alert: Sony Bows AVCHD Line
PARK RIDGE, N.J.: Sony Electronics rolled out a new line of professional video products that support the AVCHD format. It’s new NXCAM family of video gear was launched this week with a new pro camcorder. The NXCAM model will record in AVCHD at up to 24 Mbps for 1920x1080 hi-def images in interlace or progressive, as well as native 1080/24p, 720/60p and MPEG-2 SD. It will feature HD-SDI and HDMI outputs, two-channel linear PCM audio capability and it will capture GPS data. The new NXCAM will accommodate Memory Stick Pro Duo media as well as an optional 128 GB Flash memory unit for hybrid recording.
The NXCAM joins Sony’s entry into the AVCHD realm, the compact, point-of-view HXR-MC1. The new model is slated to become available in early 2010, when the suggested list price will be announced.
