TWC Ramps Up Nearly a Dozen New HD Channels in Big D
Time Warner Cable added an additional 11 HD channels in parts of the Dallas-Ft. Worth market (DMA no. 5) to its digital services in late March, including CNN HD, TBS HD, National Geographic HD, Fox Sports SW HD, Discovery HD, and A&E HD, as well as others.
The specific areas in the market receiving the enhanced HD package include the city of Dallas and suburban Richardson, Plano and Mesquite.
The region can now receive just over 30 HD channels from TWC, as well as from competitor Verizon FiOS. Plans for additional cities to get the new channels are in the works. TWC is shooting for offering at least 50 HD choices (not including its HD VOD service) throughout northern Texas by the end of 2008.
