U.K.: Sky to Cover Obama Inaugural in HD
Chances are a lot of HD viewers in the towns and suburbs of the United Kingdom could have a better seat for Barack Obama’s inauguration than many of the estimated million or more onlookers on the Washington Mall next month. (And since the average Washington high temperature on Jan. 20, according the The Weather Channel, is in the upper 30s, indoor viewers across the pond will likely be a lot warmer, too.)
Sky News said it will cover the U.S. festivities in HD for the first time in the satellite service’s history because of the spectacle of the event itself (from the swearing-in to the long parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House), as well as for the historic significance of the first African American to achieve the nation’s highest office.
The live coverage will be co-anchored (the Brits prefer to say “presented”) from Washington by Jeremy Thompson and Sky News Political Editor Adam Boulton—who will stick around on special assignment to cover the first 100 days of the Obama presidency for Sky News.
