Ukraine’s CITI transitions to digital news workflow

Kiev, Ukraine-based CITI television has transitioned to digitized production and playout operations using the turnkey Dalet News Suite for VectorBox solution.

CITI television, which produces local news and programming for the capital of Ukraine, went to air this month with Dalet News Suite for VectorBox after a four-week installation, training and coaching period.

The Dalet News Suite has allowed the channel to elevate its news and program production, said CITI technical director Mykola Vyshnivskyy. The news suite provides a unified database of video, scripts and archives and gives journalists the ability to edit directly from their workstations. Doing so not only supports production of multiple daily news programs, but also allows journalists to access information from any workstation, he said.

Dalet News Suite for VectorBox provides CITI journalists and producers with a unified virtual desktop on their workstation from which they can ingest field material, write scripts, edit packages and schedule shows. Because scripts, videos, rundowns and metadata are stored on a central Dalet content catalog running on a standard IT infrastructure, all material can be searched and shared by all users at all times.

Dalet News Suite back-office servers provide editing and scheduling features and ensure media migrations, file wrapper conversions and data consistency. Show schedules, newscast rundowns and associated media and metadata are dynamically pushed to a VectorBox server that is used for both live program and continuity playout.
