The University of Oklahoma (OU) will use LED video display technology to improve the experience of fans attending events at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, home of Sooner football. The project, expected to total nearly $10 million and scheduled to be completed in two phases, also includes upgrades to OU basketball’s Lloyd Noble Center. The project will include integrated systems with multiple high-tech displays and new sound systems for each venue.
Fans entering Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the 2007 football season will be greeted by a display in the north end zone measuring approximately 22ft by 31ft that will use Daktronics LED technology. Six additional full-color displays placed throughout the stadium will keep fans further informed and entertained. Two of them, each measuring approximately 4ft by 300ft, will be installed along the east and west fascia of the stadium, showing game-in-progress information, team and player stats, full-color animation, interactive sponsor messages and cropped video clips.
Daktronics’ ProStar video and ProAd digital display technologies will also enhance the game-day experience for those entering Lloyd Noble Center starting this fall. A state-of-the-art, integrated, center-hung scoring and video display system will be the focal point in the arena, featuring live video and instant replays on four primary video displays measuring approximately 9ft by 15ft. Eight auxiliary displays mounted around the top of the center-hung structure will showcase game information, statistics, graphics and other information. Two ProAd digital display rings light up the bottom and center of the unique design. Overall dimensions of the suspended display will be approximately 27ft by 35.5ft — at its widest point. Additional full-color LED displays will be installed in the arena to display additional information, graphics and animation.
