Urban, ION Media Networks seek share-time license authorization
Urban, a new company entering the broadcast industry, and ION Media Networks have submitted a request to the FCC seeking to allow the former to acquire share-time licenses authorizing it to broadcast on a shared-time basis on channels licensed to the latter, according to a public notice the FCC released Nov. 26.
The companies have asked the commission for waivers to some aspects of procedures covering share-time agreements and those covering new broadcast service auctions in FCC rules. Additionally, Urban and ION Media are asking the commission to confirm that Urban is entitled to mandatory cable carriage.
Those wishing to oppose the requests must file petitions to deny within 30 days of release of the notice.
