U.S. IPTV revenues to approach $14 billion in 2012, says report
IPTV service revenues in the United States will reach $13.7 billion in 2012, growing from $694 million in 2007, according to a new report from Strategy Analytics.
The report, “U.S. IPTV Forecast and Outlook,” finds that while there are numerous IPTV providers across the United States, the landscape is largely dominated by the two incumbents: AT&T and Verizon.
Both “reached critical mass” last year in terms of IPTV subscriptions, according to Ben Piper, director of the Strategy Analytics Broadband Network Strategies service.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) is expected to remain relatively stable throughout the forecast period, and service growth will come largely from an increased number of IPTV-passed homes, and higher take-up rates.
