Verizon launches FiOS in 106 New Jersey communities
Verizon began offering its FiOS TV fiber-based IPTV service Jan. 11 in 106 New Jersey communities, making it available to 250,000 homes in eight counties.
FiOS TV is now available in Bergen, Camden, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties. The company will continue to add service throughout the state, and as a result of New Jersey's new streamlined video franchise law, Verizon anticipates reaching more than 300 New Jersey communities in the next few years.
Verizon launched the service in New Jersey at the company's video hub office in Freehold. The new, state-of-the-art video distribution center receives video signals from Verizon's super-headend offices and then distributes the programming throughout the state over the new fiber network.
