Verizon and CBS have come to terms in a retransmission deal that will allow the telco to carry CBS television programs over its new fiber network. The telco will pay about 50 cents per month per subscriber, the Financial Times reported.
Though Verizon already has carriage deals with NBC and ABC stations for its new FIOS TV network, the CBS deal involved the largest number of stations. Neither company revealed the financial details of the deal.
The agreement includes analog, digital, multicast and high-definition rights to programming on CBS owned-and-operated television stations; local VOD content from those stations; and CBS Television Network VOD content, including network series.
All FiOS TV subscribers with a set-top box will receive the CBS VOD content at no incremental cost, which will also be true for FiOS TV subscribers in CBS O&O markets with regard to the local VOD content.
