Verizon Takes Step Toward Web Control of DVRs
Verizon has launched a new Web site, FiOS TV Central, to allow customers to review their local TV information from any online computer.
By year’s end, Verizon plans to enable the site to program DVRs, adjust parental controls and order on-demand programming, among other functions.
For now, the home page offers select VOD trailers and featured titles; a listing of the night’s primetime programs and regularly updated lists of the top-watched TV shows and top-purchased VOD titles.
It also has 14 days of local channel schedules, with filtering and search functions.
Shawn Strickland, Verizon’s vice president of video solutions, said there’s more where that came from.
“Today, the FiOS TV Central Web site offers the convenience of remote access to programming information,” he said in a statement. “In the near future, we’ll offer even greater interactivity that gives subscribers even more remote control of their service.”
