Viewers prefer movies at home over theater, study says
Viewers prefer to watch movies at home rather than a movie theater, a new poll by the Associated Press and American Online said.
The poll found that 75 percent of those questioned prefer to watch movies in the comfort of their own home. With HDTV television prices falling and movie ticket prices rising, there's fear this could be the beginning a major new trend.
Hollywood studios are currently suffering one of their worst slumps in history, said a report by AudioVideo Revolution, a consumer electronics Web site. The industry, worried that moviegoers will increasingly stay at home, has an uphill battle in keeping theater viewers and might try tactics that include delayed DVD releases, the publication said.
